Every town in the United States has their quirky ordinances and by laws. Our small college town has it’s fair share, none more than the gem that is set to begin in the next few months. That’s when the ban of plastic bags starts at our local grocery stores. No other business in Davis will have to abide by this ordinance except the grocery stores. That would require the use of only paper bags at all of our grocery outlets at a charge of 10 cents a bag. Thanks a lot City Council, there goes my doggie scooper. I’m also afraid some Davis residents will start using Target or stores outside of Davis for their grocery shopping.
The City of Davis is still debating which clean water project will be on the ballot in the spring of 2013. Two new members have been added to the Woodland-Davis clean water agency. The city has a choice of staying with the Woodland-Davis project or partnering with West Sacramento. The Davis City Council is scheduled to make a final decision on October 23rd regarding which project will be voted on by Davis residents. You can visit www.daviswoodlandwatersupply.org for the latest agendas and project documents.
