It’s about time Davis got its own social network. The site is called Nextdoor.com, a free social website meant to bring neighbors more in tune with what’s happening within their immediate neighborhood. The city has been divided into 33 neighborhoods, with each having its own Nextdoor.com website. Residents can sign up and stay updated with current activity in their specific communities. Where as Facebook is more gossipy, this site should be more trendy and much more informative, especially with pertinent facts and news that local families can share and use. Wouldn’t it be nice to know of a dependable babysitter down the street, alerting neighbors of a lost pet, get the word out about any crime within your small domain. What about getting word out about a garage sale or an important community event.
The new service will be a great asset in improving neighborhood communication and participation. You can visit the Nextdoor.com site and create a profile for your specific area, if it hasn’t already been done. On the map, you can scroll over every home in your neighborhood and find out who lives there. The City of Davis will also use the website to share important information with residents. Residents can visit www.Nextdoor.com and enter their address to see if their neighborhood has a leader or founder. If there is a leader, just join and start sharing. If no leader exist for your location, contact Winton at 530-757-5661 or firstname.lastname@example.org to inquire about becoming a leader or any general questions regarding the website.
